For Pearl Harbor Day in December 2014, AMVETS Post 46 announced that the flags at Beaver Island Veterans Memorial Park would fly at half-mast. The post also identified the American flag there as the burial flag of Lt. Col. Giles McCann, attributing the island-service claim to Alvin LaFreniere.
The flag observance is an organization announcement. The biographical detail is retained as attributed community testimony, not treated as independently proven.
