Summary
On September 8, 1974, the South Shore returned toward Beaver Island after carrying the Beaver Island Beachcombers to Harbor Springs. About 15 minutes from Harbor Springs, the vessel’s captain, Kevin McDonough, brought two young men and a young woman aboard from an overturned boat in rough seas. Another boat towed the overturned craft, and the South Shore reached Beaver Island about 9:15 p.m.
