A faded black-and-white survey plat fills a single page. It shows a large mostly blank mapped area with a small outlined landform near the lower right, a narrow tabular section along the right edge, and handwritten notes along the bottom. Printed headings and boundary lines are visible throughout.

The catalogue identifies this as a U.S. General Land Office original survey plat for Township 40 North, Range 11 West, in the Beaver archipelago. The record states that the originals were approved circa 1849, with Lucius Lyon as surveyor general, and notes labels for “BIG BEAVER I.” and “GARDEN ISLAND.” The holding institution is the Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office records; the source is a Michigan Department of Natural Resources scan.
