BEAVER ISLAND BOAT COMPANY Beaver Island Boat Company 103 Bridge Park Drive Charlevoix, MI 49720 231.547-2311 bibco.com High Water Notice: The high water has affected the loading and unloading of vehicles on our ferries. Bike rack and Luggage Carriers: Due to the high-water level, bike racks, luggage carriers, and other devices hooked to the rear of a vehicle will need to be taken off in order to be transported on board the Beaver Islander. The same devices MAY need to be removed for transport on the Emerald Isle on a case by case basis. The overall length of the vehicle will be measured prior to you unloading those items to establish the vehicle cost. There will be no additional cost beyond the normal overall vehicle length charge. Please arrive an hour and 45 minutes minimally before your departure time to allow time for you to remove those items from your vehicle. We apologize for the inconvenience but we are trying to protect your items from damage. Trailers on both Vessels: We do not book trailers on the Beaver Islander. On the Emerald Isle the trailers may have to be unhooked from the vehicle in order to facilitate loading of the trailer onto and off the boat by forklift. The tongue weight of the trailer must be no more than 4300 lbs. The overall weight of the trailer can not be more than 10000 lbs. or it may become impossible to load the trailer on the boat. Please let us know in advance if your trailer will be heavier than 10000 LBS. Commercial trailers and fifth wheels may become difficult to load as well, but must be hooked to a vehicle in order to be transported. In addition, any trailer with Air Brakes must be hooked to a vehicle to be transported. Towing of vehicles on and off the vessels: We are unable at this time to tow off or on vehicles that do not have working brake systems as the ramps are too steep. Special arrangements can be made for vehicles to be towed on and off by tow truck at the customers expense. These special circumstances will need to be arranged with the Dock Managers to ensure space and to ensure that it does not occur during peak passenger times. Low hanging Exhaust: Vehicles with low hanging exhaust maybe denied transport if we can not safely load them onto the vessel. The Captain will have final say on refusing any low vehicles or trailers for transport. This is for your safety and the safety of your vehicle and items. As water levels decrease we may reduce the high water restrictions.
