FISHING VILLAGE BEAVER ISLAND MARINE MUSEUM OPENED JULY 1976 The left sign also visibly includes: “AT ONE TIME THIS HARBOR WAS RINGED WITH FISH BOATS, DOCKS, NET SHEDS, NET REELS, FISH-BOX MILLS, AND ICE HOUSES.” “FROM THE 1870's TO THE 1940's FISHING WAS THE MAJOR ISLAND INDUSTRY.” “WHITEFISH AND LAKE TROUT WERE THE MAIN CATCH.” The right sign visibly includes: “THIS BUILDING WAS USED BY ‘SWIFT’ MARTIN ABOUT 1900” and “A BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE PROJECT.”
