Caption as posted: "Awesome news-we are finalists for the Range Rover Defender Above & Beyond Service Award in the Environmental Category! We all recognize the need for a dependable vehicle to get people around Beaver Island to do important work to preserve the island's natural and cultural heritage. Currently the CAKE/DNR invasive species team has a van without brakes. Weeks before, they had a tire almost fall off. We have a chance to bring a badly needed vehicle to Beaver Island for our work through the Range Rover Environmental Award. A vertically oriented promotional poster uses large red and black lettering, a blue hyperlink, and a small color image of a sport utility vehicle on a sandy landscape. The poster requests public votes, promotes reliable transportation for conservation work, and lists activities including invasive-species control, beach cleanups, and forest-fire prevention.

A model wrote this. It was shown the image and the catalogue record together, and asked to keep them apart — what it saw is here, what the record told it is under "taken from the record" below. It is still wrong often enough to matter, about who is pictured, where, when, and what is happening. Read it as a way to find the image, never as evidence about it. If you can correct it, please do: write to michael.bommarito@gmail.com, or see how corrections work. Someone who recognises a face or a shoreline knows more than the model did.

HELP: PLEASE CAST YOUR VOTE!
TO PRESERVE THE NATURAL BEAUTY
OF BEAVER ISLAND

The Beaver Island Association
has been chosen as a finalist for
Land Rover’s “Above and Beyond” Service Award.
The winning not-for-profit will receive a
2022 Land Rover Defender!

But now it goes to public voting—
LET’S GO VIRAL!

Vote for the BIA in the environmental category.
From now until Midnight EDT August 23rd,
votes may be cast once a day at:
https://bit.ly/2Ud2H7E

Please help Beaver Island to provide reliable
transportation for conservationists, researchers,
tribal biologists, and service providers.

Whether it be invasive species monitoring and control, beach
cleanups, or forest fire prevention, it all requires traveling rough roads
in sometimes harsh conditions. Help us spend less time fixing broken
down vehicles, and more time getting the real work done!

Please share this information with
as many people as possible.
Vote once each day, if you can.
Generations to come will thank you!

Why this archive publishes it. Public Facebook groups and pages run by island organisations and residents. Each item credits the poster by name and links to the original post. Removal on request.

Material goes off the web without anyone deciding that it should: a host lapses, a gallery is retired, a link stops resolving. Holding a copy — with its provenance, its checksum and its holder's terms recorded beside it — is much of why this archive exists. If you are looking for something whose original has since gone, write to michael.bommarito@gmail.com and a full-size copy of what is held here will be sent to you.

Recorded verbatim from the provenance sidecar taken at retrieval — this archive does not restate a holder's terms in its own words, does not add a restriction the holder did not state, and does not abridge one.
