Summary
Charles J. Allers, called “Cap” Allers in the June 1945 feature, commanded Conservation Department patrol No. 1 on its scheduled fish-net inspection trip toward the Beaver Islands. The feature describes him as a native of South Haven and Beaver Island.1
Evidence and limits
The 1966 obituary gives Allers’s exact birth date and an October 1966 death month, as well as an independent description of his Great Lakes fisheries work. It does not give an exact death day or a full service record. Its account of Allers’s father as a schooner owner and master is retained as attributed context, not as a separate family or vessel record.
