Summary
Robert Armstrong, of Battle Creek, was named as the father of Jo Lynn Armstrong (born April 30, 1960) and, fifteen months later, of a son also named Robert (born July 16, 1961), in Beaver Beacon birth notices.
Evidence and limits
Not the same person as his own son, Robert Armstrong. The August 1961 birth notice states outright: “Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong announce the birth of a son, Robert, on July 16th. The Armstrong’s are from Battle Creek and the mother is the former Marjory Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin of St. James” — the same “Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong” named as Jo Lynn’s parents in the May 1960 notice, from the same Battle Creek family connected to the island through Marjory (Martin) Armstrong’s parents in St. James. The son was given his father’s own first name, so the two share “Robert Armstrong” as a name while being father and son, not one person.
The record preserves the notice’s parent relationship without a complete civil identity or family reconstruction.
