Parker’s 1898 history of Crystal Lake Township preserves a regional transport-and-market observation: people the source calls “Indians, hunters, trappers, [and] fishermen” travelled to Frankfort from Leelanau County and the Manitou, Fox, and Beaver islands. The source does not identify individuals, dates, particular originating islands, quantities, or a complete trade network; its period terminology belongs to the source.
