Summary
The National Archives’ public lighthouse-logbook inventory identifies six Michigan logbook runs for South Fox Island Light Station, spanning August 1872 through December 1947; one for Skilligallee, from April 1888 through September 1901; and three for Iles Aux Galets, from August 1920 through July 1942. Scott’s 1902 Coast Pilot identifies Skilligallee as the station at Isle aux Galets, which permits the source-bounded link to Skilligallee Light Station. The inventory is a concrete archival-discovery route for the Fox Islands’ navigation history.
Inventory scope and limits
The inventory lists station names, a volume or accession number, and the start and end month/year for each run. It does not itself equate its Skilligallee and Iles Aux Galets labels, reproduce the logs, describe their contents or condition, identify every keeper, establish a continuous daily record, state whether a log has been digitized, or provide present access, ownership, or aid-to-navigation status. Claims from individual log pages require retrieval and page-level review.
