Summary
The August 1997 Beaver Beacon reviewed the Charlevoix County Community Foundation’s first five years of support for Beaver Island. It reported more than $20,000 in new money for Island goals, including school activities, health-care improvements, preservation and the Community House, Historical Society and Medical Center support, Little Sand Bay conservation, student leadership, and other community programs.
The feature also described Beaver Islanders’ roles as donors, trustees, and youth-committee members, and identified designated funds supporting Island initiatives and scholarships.
