Summary
On August 9, 2006, Coast Guard personnel, Beaver Island volunteer lifesavers, EMTs, deputies, and the new sheriff’s rescue boat conducted a helicopter rescue exercise in the harbor. The exercise included a simulated hoist from a 41-foot Coast Guard utility boat and was delayed while the crew investigated a foundering dinghy.
Evidence limits
This was a training exercise, not a response to a confirmed casualty. The newspaper’s participant list is not necessarily exhaustive.
