Summary
The November 1997 retrospective remembers Leonard “Len” Siudara’s Beaver Island medical service from 1979 until 1985. It describes his interim appointment, the winter move to the island, house calls and office fees, the practical difficulty of finding island addresses, and the community members who helped him serve as the island’s doctor.
Evidence limits
This is a later personal retrospective, not a Medical Center employment file, patient register, or complete biography.
Sources
- The retrospective says Leonard Siudara accepted an interim Beaver Island medical position in 1979 after his son Jerome recommended him, and that the position lasted five and a half years until a McGinnity arrived in 1985. It recalls his emergency winter move, $3 and $5 office charges, $10 house calls, osteopathic training, and help from Medical Center Board chair Vivian Visscher and office manager Meg Works McDonough.
