Summary
From June through September 2017, Beaver Island Association volunteers worked with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to place and remove 16 Emerald Ash Borer monitoring traps around the island. Beaver Island remained under quarantine, with firewood controls and entry-point signage; the September report said no EAB was detected on the traps.
Evidence limits
The first-party notices establish the monitoring program and its reported results. The June and September notices reported no detections on the 2017 traps; the November press release then reported MDARD confirmation of a lone female EAB in late October. The archive does not contain trap locations, inspection records, the underlying MDARD release, or an independent assessment of whether the insect represented an established island population.
