From late 2014 into 2015, Beaver Island forum participants raised an urgent succession problem around Joe Moore’s planned retirement from the island EMS paramedic role. The discussion questioned how the island would preserve Advanced Life Support status, fund replacement coverage, and maintain air- ambulance capability. A May 2015 post reported that ALS renewal was approaching and that Moore would not sign it, while a special Emergency Services Authority meeting was announced.
Evidence limits
The forum documents public concern, first-person reports, advocacy, and meeting notices. Moore’s June account adds reported labor and recruitment conditions but does not independently verify them. It does not establish the final retirement date, replacement hire, licensing decision, ALS renewal, or any interruption of EMS service. The later 2016 EMS staffing record should not be read as proof that this 2015 warning resulted in a service loss.
