Summary

An experimental hunting season for Beaver, High, and Garden Islands ran from September 15 through November 30, 1969. The notice required hunters to obtain Department of Natural Resources permits, check in and out, and bring deer to the Beaver Island field station for checking and validation. An October report recorded 364 permits, 98 archery permits, 1,415 hunting hours, 517 deer seen, and eight deer killed during the early season.

Evidence and limits

The Beacon describes the rules for archery, deer, turkey, rabbit, grouse, woodcock, and squirrel hunting. It does not provide the later compliance record or explain the administrative designation beyond calling the season experimental.
