Summary

The November 1957 Beaver Beacon reported that Dick Daane of Birmingham took the first Beaver Island deer by bow and arrow in the island’s hunting history. It said 26 archers participated, all had shots, and only one hit.

Evidence and limits

This is a newspaper hunting report and a source-reported historical first. It does not provide a license, kill record, wildlife record, or independent hunting documentation. The December report supplies only a later count of 29 bow-and-arrow hunters earlier in the season.
