Summary
The Garden Island Social Club’s “Refuge,” a 12-by-16-foot building at Northcutt Bay, was moved across the ice to Beaver Island in March 2008 after a long-planned relocation connected with a DNR ruling. The Beacon described Bud Martin and his sons using skids, a pickup, heavy equipment, a trailer, and the winter ice route before taking the building to the Martin property for future shelter use.
