The January 2012 Beaver Beacon reports ongoing volunteer reconstruction of a historic railroad section at Heritage Park. The work used ties, gravel, and donated rail sections, with Lighthouse School students helping set the rails in place. The article also records an exploratory effort to return the D. B. Harrington engine from Port Huron. The September 2013 issue reports that Port Huron retained the locomotive after a $350,000 appraisal, so the proposed display did not proceed.
Evidence limits
The report documents an in-progress reconstruction and a proposed engine request; it does not establish a completed track, a final engine loan, or proof that the engine operated on Beaver Island.
