Summary

The June 1958 Beaver Beacon reports a June 21 miniature-golf opening, ongoing Strang Print Shop roof and window work, a planned first-floor museum, and a Historical Society appeal for insured loans of historical objects. The August issue reports further restoration progress and clarifies that A. J. Roy and R. C. Hoffmann, rather than the Historical Society, operated the August “Harbor Fills” miniature-golf course. The September issue instead uses the wording “Harbor Hills” and describes the Historical Society as sponsor; the source discrepancy is retained rather than silently harmonized. The October issue reports the August 30 restoration auction, $85.81 raised, a new roof and paint job, and a plan to open the Print Shop as a museum by the next season.

Evidence and limits

These are opening plans, construction progress, and a loan appeal. They do not provide construction records, an opening report, loan agreements, an accession register, or an artifact inventory.

Sources

  1. Reports the miniature-golf course beginning operation June 21 with A. J. Roy in charge, roof and window work at the Strang Print Shop, a plan to open the first floor as a museum after completion, and an appeal for owners to loan historical articles for display under glass and insurance. It does not provide construction records, an opening report, an accession register, loan agreements, or an artifact inventory. The holding institution's portal restricts automated access; the archive holds a copy of this issue and can provide it on request.

  2. The held five-page issue scan is paired with the OCR source and confirms the museum, golf, and artifact-loan notices; it does not expand the site, collection, or operating record.

  3. Reports that the Strang Print Shop had a new roof and windows, its foundation was closed and land graded, with landscaping planned before Homecoming; it also corrects the ownership of miniature golf and names the Harbor Fills course, prices, refreshments, and beginner instruction. It does not provide completion records, a site plan, accounts, or a course register. The holding institution's portal restricts automated access; the archive holds a copy of this issue and can provide it on request.

  4. The held four-page issue scan is paired with the canonical OCR source and confirms the restoration progress and Harbor Fills operating notice; it does not expand the museum, property, or business record.

  5. Thanks Nelson Pike, Alvin LaFreniere, Karl Kuebler, and Dr. Gaunt for printing and donations, reports Walter Wojan’s crew labor on the Mormon Print Shop, and says limited funds and substantial work remain. It also calls the miniature-golf course “Harbor Hills” and attributes sponsorship to the Historical Society. This preserves the September source wording rather than resolving it against August’s “Harbor Fills”; it does not provide a completion record, accounts, or a course register. The holding institution's portal restricts automated access; the archive holds a copy of this issue and can provide it on request.

  7. Reports an August 30 auction in Holy Cross Hall to raise restoration funds, donated articles, Murray Wanty winning the outboard motor, $85.81 raised, a new roof and paint job on the Print Shop, and plans to open it as a museum by the next season. It does not provide auction minutes, a donor or bidder register, receipts beyond the reported total, or an opening record.
