Summary

The July announcement and August report together document Holy Cross Church’s annual Homecoming in August 1965. It brought families and friends together despite cool, wet weather. The parade awarded Beaver Haven, Wogan’s Construction Company, and Paul Kenwabikisse’s Indian float; the parish hall served a roast-beef dinner and raffled a bicycle; and the day ended with a dance.

Evidence and limits

The July item is an advance program; the August article is a contemporary result report. Together they still do not give attendance, raffle receipts, a full parade roster, or a fully documented date beyond August 8 in the announcement.

Open questions

  • What exact date and attendance did the 1965 Homecoming have?
  • Are the parish, raffle, or parade records preserved?
