Summary
The November 2007 Beaver Beacon reprinted a 1907 report describing an iron-ore vein found a few feet below the surface on Beaver Island. An earlier shallow boring reportedly tested at 40 percent iron, and a mining expert was expected to investigate the deposit further.
Evidence limits
This is a historical newspaper reprint; it does not establish that commercial mining occurred or independently verify the reported assay.
