Summary

The January 1969 Beaver Beacon remembered Lingard Tindale Rountree, who died January 11 at age 86 and was honored at a January 14 service at his Beaver Island residence before interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. The issue also reported the deaths of Mary Davis, Paul P. “Danny” Gatliff, Joseph Schmidt, Mrs. Ceil Gallagher, and Don McCauley, whose island connections included birth, family, residence, and Great Lakes sailing. The May issue later reported Joseph Schmidt’s May 3 funeral and Holy Cross Cemetery interment.
