Summary
The January 1958 Beaver Beacon announced a weekend fox-and-coyote hunt beginning Friday, January 10, sponsored by the Beaver Island Game Club with assistance from the Michigan Department of Conservation. At least a dozen dogs were expected, and the issue names Archie LaFreniere and Lloyd McDonough as having booked tourist courts for the hunters. The February issue adds that named hunters and a Conservation officer were still tracking a fox between Gull Harbor and Lookout Point.
Evidence and limits
This begins as a planned-hunt notice and later tracking report, not a documented result. The issues do not establish a capture or kill, provide a full participant list, or supply wildlife-management findings.
