Summary
The July 2012 Beaver Beacon announced marathon breaststroke swimmer Jason Lassen’s planned first crossing from Beaver Island to Good Hart on August 1–2, a distance of more than 18 miles. Captain Jon Bonadeo was to operate the safety vessel, supported by a six-person team handling kayaks, feeds, and monitoring. A forum reply said Lassen departed with Bonadeo on August 1.
Evidence limits
This article records the announced attempt and its planned support structure. The July notice does not establish whether the crossing was completed or what was ultimately entered in the Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame records.
