Summary
The Jeanie Johnston began its long-awaited trans-Atlantic voyage from Fenit, County Kerry, on February 16, 2003, accompanied by small boats, a lifeboat, and the Irish naval vessel LE Eithne. Gale-force weather delayed the ship in Valentia Harbour, where its crew of professionals, amateur sailors, trainees, and passengers continued preparing for the crossing.
Evidence limits
