Summary

A May 21, 1996 planning meeting advanced a four-mile King’s Highway paving project from McCauley’s Road to Donegal Bay Road, using the previously reported $300,000 grant and local contributions, equipment, labor, and construction economies.

By September, the Beacon said grant money was in place for the McCauley’s Road-to-Donegal Bay Road segment and that the builder, engineer, and Peaine Road Committee were working toward a durable surface before winter.

The October issue celebrates the completed segment as a substantially improved road and credits township supervisors, the Peaine Road Committee, County and Road Commissions, MDOT, Commissioner Rich Gillespie, and engineer Gary Voogt.

Evidence limits

The issue describes planning and funding, not final paving completion.
