Summary
The January 1958 Beaver Beacon reported that the Beaver Island lighthouse was closed for the season, with one person on duty at all times and four U.S. Coast Guard members stationed on the island as caretakers. In December, the Beacon reported the Coast Guard station’s closure until April 1, 1959, transfer of its personnel, Bert McDonough’s caretaker appointment, and uncertainty about the future operation of Beaverhead Light.
