Summary
In a June 1997 Beaver Beacon reminiscence, Wini McDonough recalled the house that Lawrence McDonough began building on Beaver Island in 1937. She said the materials came from Petoskey by freighter, the couple married in 1939 and lived there for nine years, and the house later passed through the Burke, Johnny Andy Gallagher, and Bea Bauman periods of ownership or occupancy.
The issue introduced the history while noting that the house was expected to give way to a proposed Keith and Christy Albin bowling-alley complex; the feature says a fuller story was forthcoming.
Evidence limits
This is a newspaper-published family recollection and project preview, not a deed history, measured building survey, or confirmation that redevelopment occurred.

- Wini McDonough recalls that Lawrence McDonough began the house in 1937 on land bought from Eddie Gallagher, that materials arrived from Petoskey by freighter, and that the couple lived there after their 1939 wedding before trading it to Ed and Emma Burke; the article says the house was then occupied by Johnny Andy Gallagher, later Bea Bauman, and was slated for a proposed bowling-alley complex.
