Summary
The June 1957 Beaver Beacon’s Michigan Week notice highlighted Beaver Island’s claim that James J. Strang was the only self-crowned monarch ever enthroned in the United States and stated that the location of Father Baraga’s first island chapel, built in 1832, was registered with the Michigan Historical Commission.
