Summary

The ninth held edition of the Beaver Island Music Festival was scheduled for July 14-16, 2011. The June and July Beacon issues supply the lineup, ticket table, camping window, and family activities that were absent from the earlier advertisements. The separate website archive still supplies two later, title-only clues: a July lineup article and an August article whose title suggests a post-festival recap. The held August print issue also contains a retrospective account of the event. 1234

Program

The June and July issues list Hymn For Her, the Goldmine Pickers, An Dro, Jane Thatcher and the Steadfast Acrobats, Burton’s Garden, Kung Fu Rodeo, Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellies, Serita’s Black Rose, Glean Infusion, My Sweet Patootie, the Northern Skies, bohemian seeds, and Dave Boutette and Ernie Douglas. It lists free admission for children under 12, advance and gate ticket prices, and camping from July 13 through 17. The August print issue adds a post-event account of the woods setting, volunteer operation, camping, and performances, without a complete set list or audited attendance.

Evidence limits

This article includes the June 2011 print advertisement with a lineup, prices, and camping details, in addition to the pre-season advertising repeated across the January-May issues. A separately held archive of the Beacon’s own website — a thinner crawl capturing only issue tables of contents rather than full article text — adds two titles from later 2011 issues: a July 2011 lineup article and an August 2011 article, “A festival of music out in the woods.” The held August print issue independently confirms that the festival took place and describes its setting, volunteers, camping, and performances. It still cannot confirm a complete performer-by-performer set list or audited attendance.

Open questions

  • Which performers played each set, and what was attendance? The August print retrospective confirms the event and atmosphere but does not supply a complete set list or audited attendance.
  • What was the announced band lineup? The July 2011 web-archive table of contents confirms an article on this ran that month; its text has not been retrieved.
  • Can the full text of the July and August 2011 Beaver Beacon web-archive pages add further performer, attendance, and outcome detail?

  15. "This Year's BIMF," Beaver Beacon, August 2010 (byline Carol Burton).
The 2010 recap closes by announcing "the 9th annual music festival July 14, 15, and 16, 2011" -- consistent with a 2003 founding and with the dates repeated in the 2011 ads above. Cited here only for that forward-looking sentence; see event/beaver-island-music-festival-2010 for the full 2010 recap. No public copy of this file is known; the archive holds one and can provide it on request.

  17. Beaver Beacon, December 2010, "Beaver Island Music Festival."
The December issue publishes the July 14-16, 2011 festival advertisement and illustration; this is a forward-looking announcement, not evidence of the later festival outcome. No public copy of this file is known; the archive holds one and can provide it on request.

  19. A distinct, thinner web-archive corpus (beaverbeacon.com, crawled 2026-07-31), independent of the print run that ends in April 2011. Its July 2011 table of contents lists an article titled "Band sets at the upcoming July 14-15-16 Beaver Island Music Festival," confirming a lineup was published that issue. Only the table-of-contents entry was captured, not the article body, so no performer names or schedule are available from it.
  20. The August 2011 table of contents lists an article titled "A festival of music out in the woods." Given its timing (the issue immediately following the festival's July dates) and phrasing, this is probably a recap of the 2011 Beaver Island Music Festival, but only the table-of-contents title is held, not the article text, so this identification is not certain and no outcome details (attendance, performers, weather) can be drawn from it.
  21. Beaver Beacon, August 2011, "A Festival of Music out in the Woods."
The print issue retrospectively describes the July Music Fest site, volunteer operation, camping, performances, and community atmosphere, confirming that the festival took place; it does not provide a complete performer-by-performer set list or audited attendance. No public copy of this file is known; the archive holds one and can provide it on request.
