Summary
In summer 1990, Beaver Island landowners and residents formed a Natural Areas Protection Committee with the Little Traverse Conservancy. The program sought to identify and protect important natural areas before development, building on the 120-acre Barney Lake preserve and considering additional areas near Barney Lake, Kuebler Trail, and Protar Farm.
