Summary

The Beaver Island Transportation Authority reported a grant-funded plan for a larger, safer ferry and improved docks and terminals. The planned boat was described as carrying 300 passengers and 22 vehicles, compared with the then current 200-passenger, 9-to-10-vehicle capacity. By November 1995, construction of new facilities had temporarily moved the Boat Company’s Charlevoix operation to Ferry Beach on Lake Charlevoix.
