Summary
The March 2009 Beacon reprinted historical notices stating that Beaver Island had no mail during the closed-navigation period, that the fish hatchery expected to handle millions of trout and whitefish, and that the tug Parmalee carried the first mail after seven weeks on March 31, 1909. It also included weather and navigation notes from F. Protar’s diary.
