Summary

The Beaver Island Historical Society’s 1950s–1970s oral-history program scheduled two February 2019 sessions on the island’s 1970s at St. James Township Hall. Icy conditions cancelled the February 4 meeting and moved it to February 11; a second session was announced for February 18. Ed Wojan was named as moderator, and the society said the sessions would be streamed and recorded.

The published agenda invited memories about businesses, zoning, transportation, utilities, subdivisions, construction, and the 1976 Beaver Island Journal.

Evidence limits

The forum archive preserves announcements and topic lists, not the sessions’ transcripts, recordings, attendance, or corroboration of the historical claims in the agenda. The February 18 reminder also records a simultaneous township meeting, which may have affected participation.

Sources

  1. The society cancelled the February 4 session because of icy conditions and rescheduled it for February 11 at St. James Township Hall. The post supplied a rough 1970s agenda, but not a transcript, attendance, or confirmation of which topics were discussed.

  2. The reminder identified February 11 and 18 sessions about the 1970s, moderated by Ed Wojan, with live-stream and recording plans. The revised topic list includes island businesses, zoning, transport, utilities, subdivisions, construction, and the 1976 Beaver Island Journal. It is a program notice, not evidence that every item is historically verified.

  3. The reminder placed a Peaine Township Board meeting and the BIHS oral-history program at the same time on February 18. It documents a calendar conflict, not attendance or the meeting outcome.

  4. A further reminder scheduled a March 4 session at St. James Township Hall. It confirms continuation of the project but provides no transcript, attendance, recording, or substantive oral-history result.
