Summary
The June through October 2013 Beaver Beacon issues report approximately three acres of Phragmites in Greene’s Lake Bog and additional growth at Miller’s Marsh. Peaine Township agreed to contribute $3,000 toward elimination work; later reports describe administration, treatment permits, approval of local control work, volunteer recruitment, and the treatment completed September 8 on the islands where it was needed. An August forum discussion records the administrator’s rejection of goats as a general solution because they could damage native shoreline vegetation, with hand-swiping described for remaining shoreline plants. The October report says the Greene’s Lake stand was native Phragmites and was left untreated.
Evidence limits
The reports document administrative steps, funding, and the reported completion of the 2013 treatment operation. They do not establish eradication of the remaining inland private-property stand scheduled for future treatment.
