Summary
In 1985, Beaver Island’s townships planned improvements to the public-beach playground, including a main wood structure with slides, climbing and balance equipment, and a separate toddler area. The project relied on township-funded materials and volunteer construction.
St. James authorized up to $2,000 for materials and labor, and Peaine later reported a $1,500 contribution. County recreation officials and volunteers were expected to help build the equipment.
Evidence limits
The August–September 1985 follow-up says materials and plans existed but the expected workers had not completed the work. This record therefore documents a planned and funded improvement project, not a completed playground installation.
