Summary
The Beaver Beacon documented a late-1995 debate over a Chamber-supported effort to attract fall rabbit hunters. Dave Roop said he would stop communicating with hunting visitors after resentment grew among some Islanders; township minutes also recorded concerns about hunters entering posted property. A December letter from a visiting hunter defended responsible hunting and argued that the hare population remained healthy.
Evidence limits
These are newspaper letters and minutes describing competing positions. They do not establish the total number of hunters, the extent of trespass, or a wildlife population estimate.
