Summary
The November 2012 and February 2003 Beaver Beacon accounts recount how an Island crew traveled by truck and bob sleigh across winter lake ice in February 1933 to bring back materials needed to replace the Little Red Schoolhouse. The February account dates the departure to February 15 and describes rough ice, a damaged gas tank patched with fig cookies and paper, assistance from Charlevoix residents and a pilot, and the successful return of the school materials.
Evidence limits
This record preserves the later newspaper account. The source does not provide a complete contemporary construction ledger or an independently surveyed route.
