Summary
The October 2001 history column says five women began Rushin’ News in 1941 to help Beaver Islanders in military service stay connected with home. The paper grew beyond 285 subscribers before ending with the war. A decade later, the first Beaver Beacon appeared in January 1955 for about 300 subscribers, with local news about ferry plans, the Medical Center, DNR wildlife plans, and the possible restoration of the old Print Shop.
