Summary
Community observers reported the return of hummingbirds and a range of spring migrants on Beaver Island in early May 2018. Pam Grassmick directly reported a male hummingbird, two Caspian Terns at Gull Harbor, and an American Bittern at the Greene’s Farm wetland (Snipeville). A later post compiled feeder reports from other island residents, including grosbeaks, an oriole, sparrows, Pine Siskins, and American Goldfinches.
Evidence limits
These are valuable contemporaneous community observations, but they are not a standardized census, specimen record, or independently verified species list. The reported American White Pelicans were heard about at an Audubon presentation and are therefore retained only as second-hand context.
