Summary

From late January into early February 2016, Beaver Island Forum participants discussed a farewell to Liam and Marilyn and welcomed Eric and Dana to the Stoney Acre Grill and Donegal Danny’s Pub operation. Dana separately said that the business would not close and that its menu, staff, and special days would remain. The thread began with a question about keeping Circle M open year-round, then focused on the change at the Stoney/Danny’s business.

By November 2018, Dana described a subsequent rebranding of Stoney Acre as a barbecue and Tex-Mex restaurant with equipment upgrades and a new culinary concept. This later notice documents operational development, not a legal ownership change.

Evidence limits

The forum documents a contemporaneous community understanding of an operating transition. It does not establish the legal ownership of either business, the transaction terms, licensing, or the exact dates of the prior operators’ and new operators’ tenure.

  1. The Commission on Aging said its Dining Out Program would continue at Stoney Acre during the ownership transfer, with the same menu, cooks, procedure, and senior benefit, while warning of possible temporary outages during restocking. This is an institutional service notice; it does not establish the legal transaction or uninterrupted daily operation.

  2. The incoming operator said the business was not closing, the menu and special days would remain, staff would be retained, and the new operators wanted to preserve the local culture. This direct first-party statement supports an operating transition but does not establish legal ownership.

  3. The outgoing proprietor advertised a farewell celebration. The language supports a change in operators, but does not show that Stoney Acre or Donegal Danny's closed.

  4. Participants asked about a petition to keep Circle M open year-round, then described a farewell to Liam and Marilyn and welcomed Eric and Dana to Stoney Acre Grill/Donegal Danny's Pub. This is contemporaneous community testimony about an operating transition; it does not establish a deed, purchase agreement, licensing record, exact closing date, or complete ownership history.

  5. Dana announced that Stoney Acre had been rebranded as a barbecue and Tex-Mex restaurant, with equipment upgrades and a new culinary-team concept. This confirms a later operating/rebranding phase, but does not establish legal ownership.
