Summary

TDS said it planned to begin delivering DSL to Beaver Island in mid-February. The notice listed 1.5Mb service at $39.95 per month and 3Mb service at $49.95, while cautioning that distance sensitivity could keep some customers out of the initial rollout. A March 2008 TDS notice reproduced on the forum then announced availability, but the later discussion records that coverage remained uneven. Engineering was described as nearly complete and sign-ups were expected within weeks.

Evidence limits

This is a provider announcement and planned schedule, not proof of activation, final coverage, actual speeds, or subscriber availability.

Sources

  1. TDS published a first-party notice that DSL was available, with initial residential 1.5Mb and 3Mb tiers and Island Airways identified as an early customer. The long thread also documents uneven availability and follow-up questions; it does not establish island-wide activation.

  2. TDS market manager Chad Mix stated that DSL deployment had no established schedule for the West Side Road/Fox Lake area and would not occur there in 2008, while he hoped to secure capital for 2009. This first-party provider statement qualifies the earlier February rollout announcement and does not establish island-wide availability.

  3. Beaver Beacon, February 2008, "February DSL Planned".
Reports TDS's planned mid-February rollout, 1.5Mb and 3Mb tiers, prices, final testing, and distance-related coverage limits. No public copy of this file is known; the archive holds one and can provide it on request.
