AmVets organized a Beaver Island tribute on September 11, 2011, marking the tenth anniversary of the attacks. Bob Tidmore, students, and local first responders spoke about public safety, military service, memory, and community solidarity. Kathy Speck led the crowd in song and Paul Niehaus played Taps; the article reports an audience of about one hundred.
