Summary
At a November 7 joint meeting, St. James and Peaine Townships resolved to finance the tub grinder already operating behind the Transfer Station after an expected USDA grant was redirected and did not arrive. Peaine would obtain the loan and St. James would cosign. The boards approved a ten-year loan with annual payments of $19,256.60 and planned to reconsider sale or continued operation after one year.
The Beacon reported that approximately 80 hours of grinding had reduced the debris pile by about ten percent, with use limited by safety staffing and maintenance needs.
