Summary

The Beacon summarized an Army Corps of Engineers report warning that Michigan- Huron water levels could fall about six inches beyond the normal seasonal decline because of low precipitation and increased evaporation. The basin was reported at about 25 inches below its 1918–2006 average and below chart datum, with levels expected to remain below chart datum through May 2008 and possibly approach record lows under dry conditions.

Evidence limits

This is a newspaper summary of a forecast and hydrologic report. It does not replace gauge data, nautical warnings, or a final seasonal assessment.
