Summary

The October 1963 Beaver Beacon drew attention to a small fenced burial plot behind Elizabeth Gallagher’s home, marked for Henry Clifton, who died in 1877 and had managed the Dormer Store at Whiskey Point. The notice also describes a museum-held 1876–1877 ledger and four nearby unmarked graves.

Evidence and limits

This is a museum and newspaper account, not a cemetery survey or complete burial register. The exact location, the identities of the unmarked graves, and the provenance of every ledger entry remain open.

Open questions

  • Can cemetery, church, land, or museum records locate the plot and identify the other graves?

Sources

  1. Reports a fenced plot and marker for Henry Clifton, who died in 1877 and managed the Dormer Store at Whiskey Point, an 1876–1877 store ledger at the museum, a Protestant service by George Whitney, and four nearby graves without markers or records; it does not identify the plot by survey or establish all grave identities.
