Summary

The Fox Island Lighthouse Association (FILA) formed in 2004 to preserve the South Fox Island Light Station. A 2012 Charlevoix Courier feature describes the group’s preservation work and plans; a January 2009 report lists a $16,666 Michigan Lighthouse Assistance Program grant for South Fox Island Lighthouse.

Evidence and limits

The held reports establish the Association’s reported formation, stated preservation purpose, a reported grant, and particular work reported by early summer 2012. They do not establish incorporation or tax status, ownership or control of the station, a complete board or membership record, grant terms or spending, a full condition assessment, or completion of a restoration program.

Reports that the Fox Island Lighthouse Association formed in 2004 and describes its stated mission to preserve the South Fox Island Light Station. It also reports early-summer 2012 site and building work. The collected annual-bound OCR does not establish a precise publication day, incorporation, title, a full membership list, funding ledger, or later activity. No public copy of this file is known; the archive holds one and can provide it on request.

Reports a $16,666 Michigan Lighthouse Assistance Program grant to the Fox Island Lighthouse Association for South Fox Island Lighthouse. It is a newspaper grant report, not a grant agreement, expenditure ledger, or proof of work completion. No public copy of this file is known; the archive holds one and can provide it on request.
  3. OSM maps the lighthouse at approximately -85.8384182, 45.3780771. The Association point is anchored to the station it publicly works to preserve, not to an office or legal headquarters and not to the boundary of the 115-acre site.
