Summary
Alvin H. LaFreniere, born circa 1942, was one of the participants named in the three-day Beaver Island coyote hunt reported by the January 1962 Beaver Beacon. He was the son of Daniel Archie “Archie” and Frances LaFreniere (see Archie Lafreniere and Frances Bernell Connaghan LaFreniere), a member of the Beaver Island Community School’s Class of 1960, and a Central Michigan University student before Army service. Beacon items place him across a decade of family and community occasions: usher at his sister Mary’s January 1961 wedding to Archie Minor, at which his uncle and namesake Archie LaFreniere gave the bride away; a 1971 winter browse-cutting program to help the island deer herd through deep snow; and best man, that same March, at the Chicago wedding of his cousin Joseph William LaFreniere.
Evidence and limits
The circa-1942 birth estimate follows only from normal high-school graduation timing in 1960, not a civil record. No source gives a death date; a recent Beaver Island Community School history page still lists an Alvin LaFreniere as a community volunteer, which supports but does not establish that he was living when the page was published. No source documents an occupation or residence after his Army service.
