Evidence and limits

The held report uses the initials L. A. Hill in its first crew list and Leon in its later casualty passage; the later local retrospective supplies Leon H. Hill. The contemporary Associated Press report independently identifies Captain L. L. Hill’s 50-year-old son as Leon. Together these reports support the source-bounded identity and a circa-1887 birth year, but not a fuller biography.
